SEO Myths

Let’s just get rid of some common myths you guys either have or at least already have heard of. Her we go:

Myth #1 -  A Quicky is enough

Even though some might say that quick and dirty leads to attention (that might not be untrue) a quicky can also have a bad aftermath. Quickies never last long and won’t bring long time success. Search engine optimization is an ongoing process – it requires attention and effort . Prober SEO takes time and is NO one time investment or a hot and dirty quicky. It is hot and stays hot ;-)

Myth #2 – the more, the better

Nope. Since size doesn’t matter, the quantaty doesn’t matter as well. It always comes back to the quality. So gaining relevant links is crucial – even if somebody sells you 2.000 backlinks or a dime.

Myth #3 – We don’t need no Meta Tags

Even though a lot of people (me too) keep making fun of meta tags (“revisit after: 10 seconds”) there are still some that do matter. They might not be crucial for the page rank (if that would be everything we need to worry about..) – but will help locate a site within the horizontal searches.

Myth #4 -  Let’s buy a top spot via Adwords

No way! There is absolutely no evidence that shows that buying AdWords will increase your ranking. No! Way!

Myth #5 -  Groundhog Day

You don’t need to submit a website to search engines over and over and over again. They find your site by themselves. No worries.

Myth #6 -  You’re all frauds!

SEO is not a scam! Properly done search engine optimization might be quite effective. If a website is not optimized well, it might have a real hard time until it ranks within google and co.

Myth #7 – I do SEO, I am safe

Nothing’s for sure! SEO can improve the organic search ranking. But don’t trust anybody who guarantees you the #1. There are way to many players in the game. And, honestly, if your content (product) sucks, SEO won’t help you out.

Myth #8 -  Let my people come

A long long time ago, I can still remember…in that glorious times it was enough to simply build a website and wait for people to come. That times are gone! Even if you invented the freakin’ iPhone ;-) Getting attraction needs a lot of effort. Do not underestimate that!

Myth #9 – NoFollow sucks

Well. Kinda. Yes. But on the other hand it looks quite more natural when you have follow an and nofollow links pointing to your site. Furthermore there might be some search engines that don’t care about the nofollow attribute. So don’t think of them as a waste of time. Links, as long as they’re cool, are always good.

Myth #10 – Google Google Google

Sure, Google is the biggest Player, but there some others too. Gaining attendance over there might be a good idea if the google playground is already overcrowded
